Chain Bridge
One of Budapest’s most iconic landmarks, the Chain Bridge was the first permanent bridge connecting Buda and Pest – and the first of its kind along the Hungarian stretch of the Danube. Its construction was initiated by Count István Széchenyi, designed by the English engineer William Tierney Clark and built under the direction of Scottish engineer Adam Clark. Originally opened in 1849, the bridge was destroyed during the Second World War and later rebuilt for its 100th anniversary. Guarded by its famous stone lions, it is just a short walk away from the hotel.
